Our Programs
Energy Systems Engineering Technology
Students from the Energy Systems Engineering Technology programs learn hands on skills to enable a sustainable energy workforce for today’s energy challenge. Student also learn the fundamentals of HVAC, building systems and energy management. Students in their third year, attend a 4-week work placement to gain on-the-job experience.
Wind Turbine Technician
The Wind Turbine Technician program will provide students with in depth knowledge and hands-on experience of the electrical and mechanical aspects as they relate to wind turbines. They will also learn fiberglass repair techniques as they relate to wind turbines and safety training for working at heights and in confined spaces. As part of Wind Turbine program, we will provide our students the opportunity to be certified by BZEE, the German wind industry-training institute. This internationally recognized certification will ensure worldwide access to wind turbine technician jobs. Another great option for students is the opportunity to visit the nearby Wolfe Island Wind farm, one of the largest wind farms in Ontario.
Environmental Technician
Students learn the essential skills required by environment sector employers and by being prepared to participate in the green economy. The Environmental Technician program provides a well-rounded in a wide range of sectors through courses in water and air quality, waste management, occupational health and safety, and environmental assessment. Students in the Environmental Technician program benefit from a unique partnership with the St. Lawrence River Institute of Environmental Sciences, a world recognized center for scientific research on the St. Lawrence River, fresh water ecosystems and the environment, located on our campus in Cornwall.
Supply Chain Management
This graduate certificate program builds on the student’s previous education and work experience and introduces all facets of supply chain management and logistics from a theoretical and practical perspective. Students learn how to analysis, assess global risk, and understand the concept that sustainability is a multi-facet concept that impacts everything from the environment, business continuity, and the maintenance of best practices.
Continuing Education
Our Continuing Education department supports and fosters lifelong learning in our communities. SLC offers an online Sustainable Local Food certificate that explores the practices, principles and philosophies involved in local food system development. This certificate is the first of its kind in Canada, providing a cutting-edge advantage when competing for work in the sustainable local food sector.
Student Placements
The Energy Systems Engineering Technology (ESET) program at St. Lawrence College provides 3rd-year students with the opportunity to conduct a professional energy audit of a commercial property and helps our community reduce their energy, gas and water consumption. The project spans two semesters and since 2008 the ESET program has audited 20 Limestone District School Board buildings, City Hall, Pump House Museum, The Food Bank, and a number of City of Kingston Building.
