Showcasing Esthetics at Skills Ontario 2025

Submitted by Aba Mortley, Program Coordinator and Professor, Esthetics

On May 5 and 6, Esthetics students Megan Lee Woods and Michaela Thompson, along with program coordinator Aba Mortley, represented the St. Lawrence College Esthetics program at the Skills Ontario Competition—but this year, with a new twist.

Instead of competing, the team proudly participated as part of the Esthetics and Skilled Trades Promotion Booth, showcasing the dynamic world of esthetics to thousands of students, educators, and industry professionals.

Throughout the two days, our booth buzzed with energy and excitement. Attendees lined up non-stop for mini-services including nail painting, skin analysis, brow shaping, and relaxing hand massages. Megan and Michaela demonstrated professionalism, enthusiasm, and skill—sparking curiosity in many students who may not have considered esthetics as a career path before.

The response was overwhelming. We were thrilled to see such strong interest and appreciation for the work estheticians do, and it was a great opportunity to show how esthetics fits into the broader world of skilled trades. We left inspired and energized—and we’re already looking forward to competing next year!
