Indigenous Artist Bio
Morgan Huizenga’s art is shaped by her upbringing on a dairy farm in Belleville, ON. Passionate since childhood, she is due to graduate from the Fine Arts program St. Lawrence College in June. Working in acrylic and oils, she explores farm life, childhood memories, and women’s roles on farms in the early 1900s. She has exhibited her work at Centennial Secondary School and St. Lawrence College. Morgan aims to balance farming with an art career, specializing in farm animal portraits.
Statement
I’ve always been driven by a passion for creating, a spark that’s been with me since childhood. Reflecting on my progress and growth over the past two years feels incredibly rewarding, almost like honoring my younger self. Drawing inspiration from childhood photos and memories has fueled my creativity and kept me moving forward. This final group of works explores a variety of mediums, each capturing my ideas and transforming them into something I’m truly proud to share.
