The Kingston Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) Ontario Association, with the assistance of St. Lawrence College accounting students, will provide free tax return preparation to eligible students and members of the community. The clinics will be held on Saturday, April 13th and Saturday, April 27th, 2019 in the Innovation Hub on the Kingston campus from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Those who are eligible may have their tax returns completed free of charge. Free tax clinics are hosted by community organizations across Canada, through the Canada Revenue Agency’s Community Volunteer Income Tax Program.
"This is a valuable, real-world learning opportunity for students to gain practical experience while making an impact and helping those in need," said Alynn Boyle CPA, CGA, SLC business professor. "Volunteering with the CPA’s allows our students to learn from industry professionals and put into practice what they are being taught in the classroom."
Eligibility for participation in the tax clinic is determined based on income and family size. To learn more about eligibility visit Canada.ca to review the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program checklist.
