St. Lawrence College (SLC) students will now be able to access new and expanded mental health services on its Kingston, Brockville, and Cornwall campuses, encouraging anyone seeking help to receive the supports they need.

Student Wellness & Accessibility Services (formerly known as Counselling & AccessAbility Services) will provide a wide range of customized services that are aligned with individual mental health needs, shorter wait times to get care, anbarrier-free access.

Services include individual short-term counselling, increased walk-in availability, educational workshops and peer group engagement, and group therapy interventions.

The introduction of a new app, Therapy Assistance Online (TAO), will provide students with an opportunity to learn wellness strategies through self-guided learning or a therapy-assisted approach. The app provides access to tools and resources on interpersonal relationships, stress, relaxation, problem solving, and mindfulness.

Our new services delivery will not only positively impact student outcomes, it will improve access to specialized services and reduce wait times,” said Caryn Langstaff, Associate Director, Student Wellness and Accessibility, SLC. “Our goal is to create a safe, welcoming, barrier-free environment, and reduce stigma associated with mental health issues and disability.”
