St. Lawrence College Continues Vaccine and Mask Policies Until End of Term

St. Lawrence College (SLC) will be taking a gradual approach to easing COVID-19 policies and practices it had in place regarding vaccine and mask policies.

1. SLC’s vaccination and mask policies remain in place through to the end of the winter semester
Campus access will continue to be via the existing controlled entrances and people entering the building will be required to show proof of vaccination and be wearing a mask. Students and employees with approved exemptions will continue their current campus access process. The college will continue to provide medical grade masks to people entering, if needed.

2. Passive health screening will replace the COVID-19 self-assessment in the SLC Safe app
Effective March 21, people entering campus will be required to have assessed themselves for symptoms, and to avoid coming to campus if they are ill. Signage and the app will continue to reinforce proper self-screening measures, however displaying a completed health screening to the security staff via the app will no longer be required as of next Monday.

3. Physical distancing will begin gradually being eased in shared spaces on campus
Beginning March 21, spaces like study rooms, cafeterias, and lounges will start having furniture and lay outs returned to prior arrangements in terms of available seating and set-up. With masks still required and considering the predominantly vaccinated on-campus community, SLC is able to align with the provincial directive that physical distancing in public spaces is no longer required.

“Looking ahead, we expect all COVID-19 protocols to be lifted for the beginning of the spring semester, but as always will take direction and act on guidance from local and provincial health authorities,” said Glenn Vollebregt, SLC President and CEO. “We have been working together to navigate the pandemic for over two years now, and we have done well at respecting public health guidelines and protecting the health of our shared community.”
