St. Lawrence College Welcomes Interim Vice President, Belonging, Human Resources & Organizational Development

St. Lawrence College (SLC) welcomes Grant McMichael, who joins the College as Interim Vice President, Belonging, Human Resources & Organizational Development effective from January 3, 2022, while the College conducts an executive search to fill the position on a permanent basis. 

Grant brings extensive experience in Human Resources and EDI (Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) to this role. Most recently, he served as Assistant Deputy Minister, Human Resources for the Government of Nunavut where he developed and implemented the territorial HR Strategy, government legislation and programs, negotiated collective agreements, and engaged on Inuit employment and development planning and decentralization. Grant also recently worked with the Government of Nunavut Human Resources Department, including the Nunavut Arctic College and Department of Education, where he led both organizations through ransomware attack and COVID-19 response.  

“Grant joins SLC at an ideal time given our commitment to actioning the recommendations outlined in the SLC Belonging + EDI Task Force’s Recommendations Report,” said Glenn Vollebregt, SLC President and CEO. “Grant’s highly developed skills shaping and fostering inclusive cultures and building organization capability to drive sustained value, at both national and multi-national organizations, will ensure we can meet our goal of becoming a truly inclusive college.” 

In addition to his corporate experience, Grant is an active community leader and activist, serving in volunteer roles with groups including the Exploratory Committee for CPHR Alberta, Human Resources Professional Association, and the Peel Cheshire Homes, which provides support to adults who live life with a physical disability. 

Grant holds a business degree from Brock University, a Postgraduate, Human Resources diploma from Humber College, and a series of professional certifications in the fields of Executive Coaching, Organizational Design, and Change Management.
