In this suite of practical, hands-on micro-credentials you will create and lead group exercise classes including indoor cycle, yoga, senior fitness, personal training and resistance training and more. Explore the mechanics of movement and correcting exercise form while applying the principles of training and program design for cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, mobility and flexibility. Develop the practical skills and knowledge to effectively create safe individualized exercise programs for clients based on health background and activity level.
The St. Lawrence College Fitness and Health Promotion micro-credentials are recognized by the Ontario Fitness Council. Completion of one or more modules qualifies you for certification that is associated with the module (i.e. Yoga, Spin, Personal Training, etc.).
Admission Requirements
To be eligible for these courses, you must have:
- A degree or diploma in a fitness or health related field
- Current First Aid and CPR
Program Highlights
The St. Lawrence College Fitness and Health Promotion micro-credentials are recognized by the Ontario Fitness Council. Completion of one or more modules qualifies you for certification that is associated with the module (i.e. Yoga, Spin, Personal Training, etc.). Those who complete these certifications can find work as a Personal Trainer, Strength and Conditioning Coach, Sports Coach, Group Fitness Instructor and more.
