Designer Bio

Harrett

My name is Keegan Harrett, a graphic designer and self-taught illustrator with a passion for storytelling and creating. In my design work, I aim to tell a brand or product’s story, or create an identity to tell future stories with. I enjoy designing works that allow me to create imagery and incorporate my artistic and illustrative side into the world of design. Outside of design work I enjoy creating character designs and comics, going for walks, listening to music, playing trading card games, and reading.

COURSE

Graphic Design 3

OBJECTIVE

To create a design solution that could educate new students on the professionalism and employability skills of graphic design.

DESCRIPTION

I chose to portray these employability skills via comics, as this would allow me to use my illustration skills and work in a medium I deeply care about. It was also a method that would be unique and novel to the target audience, and make them more likely to read and engage with them. The comics were structured in a “do this, not this” structure, as it served as a good way to showcase responsible behaviour and (albeit exaggerated) irresponsible behaviour, as well as creating a good contrast that greatly improved the comics’ humour.

Interaction Design 3

OBJECTIVE

The objective for this project was to create an app for a fictional museum exhibit on a topic of our choice.

DESCRIPTION

The chosen exhibit theme was Shonen Jump, a popular manga magazine and brand in Japan, as it was an idea that felt unique and lent itself to a digital interface. Since Shonen Jump already has a digital reader, it made sense to use that as a way to read chapters of certain series, and to make an activity around it.

Brand Identity 1

OBJECTIVE

To create a logo and menu identity for a fictional restaurant, based off a provided strategic brief.

DESCRIPTION

The “client” for this project was Maxi Mex, a friendly, large portioned Tex-Mex restaurant. Using nacho chips served as a good shorthand for Tex-Mex cuisine, and the red/brown colour scheme gave a warm, friendly feeling to the logo and brand as a whole. The nacho triangles also served as an adaptable brand symbol, as shown in the menu design where it was a background element and way to highlight important items.
