St. Lawrence College Welcomes New Senior Vice President, Academic

Maher Ghalayini

St. Lawrence College (SLC) is pleased to welcome Dr. Maher Ghalayini to its executive team as the new Senior Vice President, Academic. Dr. Ghalayini will begin his appointment on July 4, 2023.

With more than twenty years of experience in progressive teaching and senior post-secondary leadership roles, Dr. Ghalayini most recently served as Associate Vice President, Academic at Georgian College. There, he worked closely with academic leadership teams to advance strategic and academic priorities, refine policies and processes, and help chart the way forward with regards to academic quality, program innovation, program delivery, and educational development and technologies.

While Interim Vice President Academic, Ghalayini led the creation and development of Georgian’s 2022 to 2024 academic plan through in-depth consultations with all internal stakeholders and external industry partners, and his background also includes experience as an adjunct professor and curriculum developer at several Ontario universities.

A committed life-long learner, Ghalayini holds an MBA from Wilfrid Laurier University, a Master of Laws in Business Law from Osgoode Law School at York University, and a Doctor of Education in International Higher Education Administration from Northeastern University in Boston.

“We’re excited and thrilled to welcome Maher to SLC and will benefit from his experience and leadership,” said Glenn Vollebregt, SLC President and CEO. “He will engage with all aspects of the Academic division across all SLC campuses and together with internal and external stakeholders, will champion Indigenous Ways of Knowing and Being, Belonging, Students First, Teamwork, Innovation, and more, ensuring our shared vision of academic excellence is realized.”
